Vibrocoring
TG&B Marine Services performs a variety of sediment sampling services in support of dredging projects. We own and operate three 24-foot boats and two barges equipped to handle the several vibrocoring systems we utilize. We take continuous sediment core samples up to 30 feet long in water depths from 1 to 100 feet. We operate systems which can be deployed in lakes, harbors, rivers, reservoirs or in open waters.

Environmental Sampling
TG&B has provided sampling services on numerous environmental assessment projects, including many EPA superfund sites. Our personnel have OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training and are experienced in a wide range of field sampling equipment. Our services include field operations, logistics and planning for coring, marine biological, sediment and water sampling and related data collections tasks.

Remote Access Coring
Because many inshore sites lack access for traditional barges or boats, getting a vibrocoring platform to the desired locations can be challenging. TG&B’s new, portable platform for vibrocoring operations, the SW-1 is a sectional barge consisting of five major hull components.  The entire 16’x10’ platform, including the coring system and auxiliary skiff, can be easily transported to a site, unpacked, assembled, and launched by two people in less than an hour.  When assembled, the platform is extremely stable and maneuverable, and is capable of speeds up to 10 knots.
Security
TG&B installed and currently maintains arrays of security zone marker buoys surrounding Boston's Logan Airport and the Pilgrim Nuclear Plant on the coastline at Plymouth, MA. These arrays consist of Coast Guard Class 3, 4 and 5 buoys and 5 x 9 lighted buoys. TG&B has also installed security zone buoys and booms in reservoirs for New York City's Department of Environmental Protection. TG&B is Tuffboom's New England installer. More on Tuffboom products can be found at www.tuffboom.com.

Vessel/Barge Operations
TG&B vessels and barges are easily transported and are available anywhere in the Northeast. Our boats have hydraulic A-frames and winches enabling safe and efficient handling of a variety of sampling equipment. TG&B barges use DGPS navigation with sub-meter accuracy, spuds and four-point anchoring systems to meet precision station keeping requirements. Our captains have USCG Masters Licenses and have extensive experience working in offshore and coastal waters throughout the region.

Oceanographic/Geophysical Surveys
TG&B personnel have conducted oceanographic and geophysical surveys around the world, including deploying and recovering instrument moorings in 2200 meters of water. TG&B personnel have used most types of current meters, wave buoys and acoustic releases and are experienced in coastal and deep water moorings and in rigging vessels of opportunity for mooring work. TG&B also operates side scan sonar and chirp profiling systems and performs bathymetric surveys.
Acoustic Flowmeter Installations
TG&B personnel have installed hundreds of high-accuracy multi-path acoustic flowmeter systems in hydroelectric stations and water resource facilities throughout the world. Among the major turn-key projects by TG&B have included installations in Grand Coulee's 36-foot diameter penstocks and Lower Granite's 40-foot high low-head inlet bays.
